It is derived from the fibre processing residuals of an oil-bearing plant. The internal capillary structure of it was created by nature to be highly oleophillic (oil loving). The oleophillic surface will attracts oil strongly, where it is then absorbed into the capillary internal structure, where it remains locked in. This means that oil that has been absorbed will stay absorbed and will not leach out to cause further staining or slip hazards.

Oil is rapidly absorbed into the capillary structure of the plant material. Once absorbed, the oil stays absorbed and cannot escape even in the presence of water or under mechanical pressure.
